On October 30, 2023, GOACC Board President Lynn Kearney welcomed everyone to Traditions Restaurant and introduced the board, along with an invitation for anyone interested in joining the
board to reach out to a current board member.
Lee Spencer, owner of Chocorua Camping Village KOA in Tamworth, recalled that this is the 50th annual meeting of the GOACC (originally GOAL - Greater Ossipee Area League), formed by himself and other area business owners in 1973. He gave a summary of the original mission and founding members, many of whom are still in business.
The budget for 2023-2024 was presented to the members present. Noted changes are a zero budget for the golf tournament, as the board voted to change that to sponsorship model that will funnel directly to the scholarship program, and an increase in the Contract
Services line to accommodate more help in marketing and membership.
Lynn presented an update to the GOACC By-Laws requiring fewer meetings than the currently required twelve per year., though no fewer than six meetings. This gives the small (but mighty) board a little flexibility in the coming years.
This year's Annual Business of the Year award was presented to Friends of Constitution Park, in consideration of all their work to boost the local park for all to enjoy.
Business Person of the Year awards were presented to both Jennifer MacDonald of Cora’s Cleaning and Julie Tavares of Batter Up. Both are generous in their communities and would not expect any recognition or acknowledgement - so this had to be done. Due to the overwhelming participation by our membership, we are honored to also recognize the other nominees:
Steven Hoyt, Knute Ogren of Calumet Ministries, Green Mountain Conservation Group and Ann Lambert of ArtWorks.
The current slate of officers presented (Lynn Kearney, President; Ian MacDonald, Vice President; JP Goodwin, Treasurer) were voted in unanimously.
Delicious food and surroundings, as always, were plentiful, thanks to Traditions Restaurant at Purity Springs.
See you all next year!
