Visit the Greater Ossipee Area for the ultimate summer vacation!

Summer and leisure go hand in hand. As days get longer, opportunities get larger to make lifelong memories and experience a truly unique quality of life. In the Greater Ossipee Area, summertime fun is one of our cherished virtues. It is the peak season for travel, as people come from all over the world to get a taste of fresh mountain air, crystal clear lakes and the world-renowned aroma of a crackling campfire on a warm, summer evening.

Golfers will delight at a budget-friendly round on Ossipee’s public, eighteen-hole golf course. The course, which caters to golfers of all skill levels and abilities, was historically the site of a colonial-era battle between British colonists, under the command of Captain John Lovewell, and the native Abenaki Native Americans, under the command of Chief Paugus. From the side of the highway, paralleling the golf course, a monument marker details the history of the conflict. Today, the historic location is home to scenic fairways which will challenge seasoned players, yet allow beginners to hone their skills in a relaxing environment.

Outdoor recreation is one of the pivotal draws in the Greater Ossipee Area. Scenic hikes include Rattlesnake Mountain in Sandwich, which overlooks the famous Lake Winnipesaukee. White Lake State Park, which is located over the Ossipee/Tamworth town line, attracts tourists year after year to hike camp and enjoy a day on the park’s namesake water body, from the recreational beach area. If a day on the water is in order, you owe it to yourself to explore some of the area’s pristine lakes and ponds, including Ossipee Lake. Public boat launches give you access to hours of summertime fun, with enough channels and hidden coves to keep the adventurer in you satisfied all day. Children will also enjoy a trip to Tamworth’s local family fun park. Eighteen holes of miniature golf, go-karting, arcade games and a newly installed laser tag arena will delight people of all ages.

Weather depending, the Fourth of July is celebrated by the town of Ossipee at Constitution Park. Large, grassy fields and an overwhelming sense of patriotic pride create a whimsical atmosphere, as you enjoy local food from vendors and await a dazzling fireworks display. The Constitution Park celebration is a near and dear tradition to locals, as well as travelers who come together to celebrate our nation’s pride, freedom, and all the work that has gone into such things.
